Location: Colosseo-Celio
The Celio quarter, which includes the Colosseum and the area just east of it, is popular amongst both locals and tourists alike for its relaxed atmosphere and authentic feeling of antiquity. The Celio neighborhood grew up among the ruins of ancient Rome, and while tourists flock to the archaeological sites in the quarter, the neighborhood itself remains largely untouched by tourism, catering instead to the everyday Romans who live here. Small markets, artesan and crafts shops and restaurants abound, while upscale clothing and shoe stores have no place here. Celio has several beautiful parks, perfect for relaxed strolls that give you the feeling of having escaped from city life. The Imperial Forum, Colosseum, Circus Maximus, Domus Aurea and the Baths of Caracalla are all within walking distance from any point in the Celio quarter. The area is well connected to other areas in the city by bus, tram, and the B metro line.
Once near the Colosseum, you can stroll along i Fori Imperiali, and reach Piazza Venezia, from where you can go to Piazza Spagna, Fontana di Trevi, Piazza Navona, etc.
