Location: Trastevere
Via delle Mantellate is a small, quit street, with no way out, on the northern part of Trastevere. It si couple of minutes away from St. Peter's Square and the Vatican, Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona.
Trastevere, the famous well known Roman quarter, is a picturesque and authentic area of Rome. It's one of the oldest quarters of the city where the past remains deeply entrenched with the present. Almost all of the buildings date back to the 1500's, and the narrow, cobblestone streets give a strong sensation of the great history that this quarter has.
The prevalent atmosphere that is perceived is one of days gone by...partly because of the small, quaint shops found every where, partly because of the historic streets, and partly because of the absence of large hotels.
Trastevere also benefits from its proximity to the Janiculum Hill, a popular place to take walks. When evening comes, Trastevere awakens to an exciting nightlife. With its restaurants, bars, coffee shops and clubs, Trastevere by night offers innumerable treasures to discover. Since it is situated in the heart of the historic center of Rome, and within short walking distance to all the other zones, it is one of the favourite places to be.
The quarter is well connected to all parts of the city center by bus and by tram, and offers connections to the airport from the "Trastevere" train station.
And for those who don't want to walk, you can go to Viale Trastevere, and take Tram No. 8, which goes all the way to Largo Argentina, in less than 10 minutes (right beside Piazza Venezia).
